The Verein Selbstbestimmt leben in Nordhessen e. V. (Association for Self-determined Living in Northern Hesse) was founded in 2016 by people with various disabilities as a self-representation organisation offering peer counselling that is independent and run by disabled people themselves in accordance with the Federal Participation Act. The association builds on the long-standing commitment of its members and the experience of a broad network in offering counselling on participation to disabled people by people who have various disabilities themselves in the form of peer counselling.

The Verein Selbstbestimmt leben in Nordhessen – SliN e.V – is a complementary independent participation counselling centre – EUTB® – in the Zentrum für selbstbestimmtes Leben behinderter Menschen (Centre for Self-determined Living for Disabled People) – ZsL® – in Kassel and is recognised by the federal association of the interest group “Selbstbestimmt leben in Deutschland” e.V. (Self-Determined Living in Germany) – ISL
